This post is totally personal. Today I was talking to one of my relative back home in Bangladesh. He has a Business, well traveled and respectable …(?) person.
When I called before exchanging the initial greetings he was confronting me – why did I put my picture here? He was refering to my Blog Banner. I was answering it’s for my Personal Branding…he didn’t let me finish. He passed his opinion – I should take off my picture. Our society doesn’t perceive this well blah blah blah.
Yes ..I was pissed off and lost all the mood to continue the conversation any more. With all due mannerism I ended the call. And after that for an hour I was off mood.
After a while I was counseling myself. Do I really need to take this so seriously? This person doesn’t have a clue what Blogging is, don’t know how important Personal Branding is, internet marketing, web 2.0 stuff are like Alien words for him. Should I take him seriously and feel bad?
Doesn’t make any sense right? This is totally personal and it might not look like a topic to write a blog post about. But I suddenly realize this s****t happens to so many and so often that I should write a bit.
How many times people you respect, close to you or you think knows a lot totally slap into the face of your dream and vision? Making you feel like crap ? Do you know the major causes why people fail?
“People listen to their friends and family” and this is one of the major causes why people fail. And it’s NOT my words. Napoleon Hill said this in his famous Think & Grow Rich book many many years ago.
So NO I am not going to listen to him or take my picture off or feel bad because the way he talked to me. I will continue what I am doing and will pursue creating my Brand. And if some people doesn’t agree with my point of view and my way of doing things -it’s THEIR Problem NOT mine.
I am Sanjida Hasnin and as long as I am honest and true to my purpose without violating anyone’s right – I am not going to waste my time and energy worrying what ‘they’ might think.
Are you allowing anyone to attack your dream? DON’T !
